STABBING SUSPECT CAPTURED

A man wanted for sending a man to the hospital with two stab wounds (see previous news release) was captured by the Daytona Beach Police Department while driving a stolen vehicle late Friday. Daniel Dekmar, 22, was spotted by a Daytona officer in the vicinity of Lockhart Street and Ruby Street at approximately 7:04 p.m. Dekmar quickly abandoned the car, but didn't get far on foot as officers had the neighborhood surrounded. Dekmar was arrested a few minutes later. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach later that evening.  In addition to the original Volusia County Sheriff's Office warrant of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing bodily harm, the Daytona Beach Police Department charged him with: grand theft auto, fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, obstructing an officer without violence, and no valid driver's license.
