SUNTRUST BANK ROBBED

A man robbed a Suntrust Bank near Ormond Beach Friday afternoon. The suspect did not display a weapon, but implied he had one. No one was injured during the robbery. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

An alarm company notified the Sheriff’s Office at approximately 1:15 p.m. about the robbery at 3780 Roscommon Drive . Witnesses said the suspect walked up to a teller station and pointed something in his jacket at the teller, but didn’t actually show a gun. He demanded money and the teller complied. Once the suspect had the money in hand, he walked out of the bank. It’s believed that he then got into a vehicle waiting nearby and fled. Approximately 20 patrol, K-9 and investigative units responded to the robbery to search for the suspect, monitor escape routes and collect evidence at the scene.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 40s with light brown or blond hair and a mustache. He was 5’8” with a medium build. He wore a navy blue sweatshirt with a hood and blue jeans. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 323-0151 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Tipsters can also provide information by texting “TIP231 plus the message” to CRIMES. Anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
