DELTONA TEEN
SHOT IN THE FOOT
The Volusia
County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in
Deltona Thursday morning that sent a 19-year-old man to the
hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot. Approximately 14
deputies responded to the scene to search for the shooter,
but due to a 10-minute time lapse in reporting the incident
and the victim not being able to provide a useable suspect
description, no one was found. The teen was transported to
Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach by EVAC
ambulance for treatment for his non-life threatening wound.
There were apparently no witnesses to the incident or any
other injuries reported.
The Sheriff’s
Office received a 911 call at about 9:28 a.m. from a woman
who said that someone had been shot in the foot at 2870
Chalmer Street, but that the victim, Lonnie Solomon, was now
at an address on Glenlock Street. Deputies responded to both
addresses and learned that Solomon had been standing in the
driveway of his Chalmer Street home when someone shot him.
His girlfriend then drove him to his mother’s house on
Glenlock Street. It’s currently not known how the girlfriend
originally knew that Solomon had been hurt. Solomon didn’t
provide a description of his assailant or any details about
what happened to deputies before going to the hospital.
