MAN’S
SHOOTING
STORY
FULL OF
HOLES
A
31-year-old
man’s
creative
story
about
getting
shot in
the leg
Sept. 1
because
he was
wearing
gang
colors
in the
wrong
neighborhood
fell
apart
Thursday.
It turns
out that
the
gunshot
wound to
his leg
was
accidentally
self-inflicted,
and he
had made
up the
gang
colors
story to
cover
his own
illicit
drug
activity.
Kenneth
Marrow’s
tall
tale was
finally
revealed
when
narcotics
agents,
Volusia
County
Sheriff’s
investigators,
and
members
of the
FBI Safe
Streets
Task
Force
served a
search
warrant
at his
Deltona
home
Thursday
morning.
Marrow
is now
in jail
on drug
charges
and
could
face
additional
charges
related
to
making a
false
police
report.
The West
Volusia
Narcotics
Task
Force
was
already
aware of
Marrow’s
possible
drug
activity
due to
an
anonymous
tip and
subsequent
undercover
investigation.
The
agents
were in
the
process
of
having a
search
warrant
on
Marrow’s
home
completed
and
signed
when the
shooting
incident
occurred.
The Task
Force
held off
on
executing
the
search
warrant
until
after
Marrow
returned
home
from the
hospital
and the
agents
had a
chance
to
coordinate
with the
Sheriff’s
Office’s
Deltona
district
investigator
who was
handling
the
shooting
case.
The
search
warrant
was
served
about 9
a.m.
Thursday.
After
narcotics
agents
went
through
the
house,
Marrow
was
charged
with
possession
of a
controlled
substance,
possession
of
cocaine,
possession
of
marijuana
under 20
grams,
and
possession
of drug
paraphernalia.
Investigators
then
spoke
with
Marrow
concerning
the
previous
week’s
shooting
incident.
Marrow
was on
his way
to see
someone
concerning
a drug
deal
that
day, he
said. He
had
tucked a
gun into
his
waistband,
but when
he
walked
out of
his
house
the
weapon
slipped
out and
fell to
the
ground.
It
discharged,
sending
a bullet
through
his
right
leg. Not
wanting
law
enforcement
to learn
about
his
illegal
activity,
he
concocted
a story
about
encountering
a group
of
unknown
men who
accosted
him
about
supposedly
wearing
gang
colors
and then
shot
him.

Marrow
was
transported
to the
Volusia
County
Branch
Jail in
Daytona
Beach.
