Three
children who were missing since Monday when a judge
ordered them into the state's care were recovered
safe and sound Saturday in Leesburg. The children –
Ceili (age 8), Darien (age 4) and Rainah Rudy (age
10) – are now in the Florida Department of Children
and Families' custody, but their mom, 38-year-old
Christina Brock, is still at large. Brock now has a
warrant for her arrest charging her with
interference with child custody.
Brock
and the children stayed with a man in Leesburg who
didn't know anything about Brock's attempts to avoid
law enforcement. Brock left the kids with him and
went to an Ocala Wal-Mart Saturday afternoon to
obtain supplies with a friend she had been traveling
with, 41-year-old Stephanie Newberry. Store security
guards found Newberry behind the store and initially
thought she was stealing crates, but later learned
that she was spray painting her vehicle blue in an
attempt to disguise it. The security guard noticed
the license plate and recognized it as one law
enforcement had notified all local agencies to be on
the lookout for. The security guards called in the
Ocala Police Department who in turn called in the
Volusia County Sheriff's Office and the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement. Meanwhile, Brock
suspected that something was going on and so she
fled the store. Investigators interviewed Newberry
and learned that the children were in Leesburg. They
then went to the address in Leesburg and found the
kids there in good health. The children were then
turned over to DCF. Newberry was cooperative with
investigators and does not face any charges.
Brock
is a white female, approximately 5'9” and 135
pounds. She has blond hair, but it is believed she
had cut it and dyed it brown. Investigators believe
she may still be in the Lake County and Volusia
County area. Anyone with information
about Brock's whereabouts is asked to call
Investigator Beth Fortin at (386) 423-3301 or Crime
Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888)
277-TIPS. Tipsters can also provide information by
texting “TIP231 plus the message” to CRIMES. Anyone
who provides information to Crime Stoppers will
remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up
to $1,000.
