Your Career In Law Enforcement

Interested in a challenging and rewarding occupation where you will have the opportunity each and every day to make a positive impact on a dynamic and growing community? If so, then the Volusia County Sheriff's Office is interested in you.

The Sheriff's Office offers a wide variety of career opportunities, both in law enforcement and civilian support positions. The work can be rigorous, even potentially dangerous at times. But the rewards are enormous because you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to protect your community and the citizens of Volusia County. We are extremely proud of our agency and the high standards of public service we provide and are continuously striving to recruit, train and equip highly-qualified individuals to fill the more than 800 positions in the Sheriff's Office. Do you have the ambition and dedication to join the team?

Not everyone can be a Deputy Sheriff. A Deputy is required to be physically fit, alert and exercise good judgment, often with very little time to analyze available options. A Deputy must have a good command of verbal and written communication skills and remain calm during emergencies. The hours are sometimes long and the responsibilities are many. Men and women who enter this honorable profession do so from a strong desire to serve others and a commitment to protect innocent members of our society from criminals who prey upon them.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office offers many exciting law enforcement career opportunities, along with a vast array of benefits and educational incentives. We have five law enforcement patrol districts throughout Volusia County and a centrally-located Operations Center. In addition, the Sheriff's Office operates a variety of highly-trained specialized units, including SWAT, narcotics, auto theft, crime analysis, intelligence, major case, juvenile investigations, sex crimes, elder crimes, traffic, aviation, marine, motors, dive team, bomb disposal and K-9. If this sounds like an exciting way to spend the next 25 years of your life and you have the necessary skills and motivation, we challenge you to submit an application today.
