Heat safety

Excessive heat kills more people in the United States
each year than tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and lightning
combined. To keep from becoming a victim when
temperatures are high:

  • Avoid strenuous activity.
  • Stay indoors.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Wear light weight and light colored clothes.
  • Avoid salt tablets unless they are prescribed medically.
  • Don’t leave children or pets in closed cars at any time.
