The East Central Regional Rail-Trail is the longest abandoned rail line
ever purchased in Florida. The corridor was purchased by the State of
Florida Office of Greenways and Trails on December 31, 2007 and has been
turned over to Volusia and Brevard counties for development and
maintenance. The 50-plus mile corridor runs from Enterprise through south
Deltona to Edgewater and Titusville. This corridor will become part of
Volusia County’s Showcase Multi-Use Trails network.
A requirement of this lease is to
produce a Management Plan
for the trail. We welcome all citizen input. Please feel free to send your
comments directly to Susanne Inman at
sinman@co.volusia.fl.us.

Plans to pave the trail
for bicycling and wheelchair use will begin in Enterprise. The first
segment to be paved will run from the western terminus at Providence
Boulevard, accessed through the Green Springs Park Trailhead in
Enterprise, to the Osteen Community Center just east of SR 415. This
portion is expected to open in early 2010.
The next segment to be paved will travel from Dale Street and Park
Avenue in Edgewater to Cow Creek Road. This segment is planned for the
2011 - 2012 fiscal year. The remaining corridor will be paved during the
following years. In the not to distant future, you will be able to
travel from Enterprise to Edgewater and on down to Titusville, all
without going on a busy, automobile-filled road.
